I went to the Navigating the Law School Admission Process panel though the GCC today. I appreciated the insights and candor of the panelists. It seems they’re all going to law school directly after college, which I don’t think I would do with any type of grad school. My parents encourage me to work for a year or two before starting grad school, if I end up doing so. That’s what my sister did and it’s been going very well for her in the public health field. Several times the panelists said that they wished they had given more time to preparing studying for the LSAT. The conversation about the LSAT, GPA, personal statement, and recommendations stressed me out. Of course, if I want to be a lawyer, I should try to go to law school, and if I want to go to law school, I need to apply with those componenents. Being a lawyer would be the goal, not having the best application of anyone ever. But in the short term, those elements are stress and anxiety-inducing. It’s good to know what I should be stressed about instead of living in blissful ignorance. But I left the event more stressed than when I entered.
